About the MPRE
The MPRE is an ethics exam required by most jurisdictions. It is a separate test from the bar exam. It covers the Model Rules of Professional Conduct (MRPC) and a portion of the Model Code of Judicial Conduct (MCJC). The test is easier than the bar exam, but it has gotten harder in recent years. More information about the exam, including some sample questions, can be found on the MPRE page of the NCBEX Web site.
Outline
Below is a condensed outline of the MRPC, as well as the portions of the MCJC you need to know for the MPRE. When I took the MPRE, I did all of the practice questions I could find online and memorized this outline (not word for word, but I could recite the name and main elements of each rule). You may also download the outline in PDF and NoteTaker format (you will need a Macintosh running Tiger or higher and either NoteTaker or the free NoteTaker viewer to use the NoteTaker version).
